Are you familiar with the intriguing tale of Shaheen Shah’s introduction to cricket?
In a recent interview, former Pakistan Test cricketer Riyaz Afridi described how his younger brother Shaheen Shah Afridi became interested in cricket and the events of his childhood.
Riyaz Afridi claimed that one thing I taught Shaheen was not to ever mention the name Riyaz Afridi and to always remember that if you have talent, you will show it.
He claimed that Shaheen has been passionate about and in love with cricket since he was a young child. Whenever I returned from a tour, he used to play with my bat and pads and even slept in them.

He claimed that when the FATA Under-16 trials came around, I was in Dubai when Shaheen called and asked if I would be willing to conduct trials. I agreed, he claimed.
Shaheen was the youngest and, according to Riyaz Afridi, was unable to travel to Peshawar for the trials, so I requested that the other brother bring Shaheen there. He claimed that I told Shaheen, “I have two Test players in my home, and my kid plays ODI and T20I cricket. I want you to play Test cricket, acquire a record, and I have two Test players.”
