The Pakistani government had previously announced that Babar would receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award, and the date for the ceremony has now been confirmed.
The award will be presented on March 23, 2023, in conjunction with Pakistan Day celebrations.
The right-hand batsman will take a break from cricket to attend the ceremony, as he will not be playing in the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
Babar Azam has emerged as a role model for aspiring cricketers, and this honour recognises his dedication and hard work in the sport.
The Government of Pakistan has also awarded the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz title to several other outstanding Pakistan cricketers.
Notably, four former captains, including Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, and Sarfraz Ahmed, have received this country’s third-highest civil honour for their outstanding contributions to cricket.
Only four other cricketers had previously received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award for their outstanding athletic achievements.
Mohammad Yousuf in 2011, Saeed Ajmal in 2015, Javed Miandad in 1992, and Inzamam ul Haq in 2005 are among them.
Former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed was previously the youngest Pakistan cricketer to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
